Dental Exams and Cleaning

A preventive program is a cooperative effort by the patient, dentist, and dental staff to preserve the natural dentition and supporting structures of the teeth. A preventive program helps you avoid the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions.

Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet.  It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of your dentist and dental hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.

Prevention also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and X-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments in helping to protect the teeth.

Prevention helps avoid serious and costly dental problems and is the key to having a healthy, confident, beautiful smile.

Dental cleanings differ from your at-home dental routine of brushing and flossing. Our cleanings include:

  • Removal of plaque to reduce and prevent gum inflammation and periodontal disease
  • Removal of calculus (tartar) formed from plaque to prevent gingivitis
  • Teeth polishing to remove stains and plaque

It is important that your teeth are regularly cleaned. Removal of plaque and calculus can only be done in a dentist office with the use of ultrasonic tools and specialized instruments. Schedule an appointment with us soon so you can receive a thorough exam and maintain your oral health!
